I have a pro player friend (who participated in the free tournaments) who dominates as Clutch (even in Instagib where he is the biggest target) while I can't really play well with him.
It all comes down to your taste and gameplay. What matters is are they to your taste? Because even though Ranger is given to every type of player and everyone thinks he's just the starter guy, I still see high level pro players picking him and dominating while I can't do sh*t with him. The champions do not overpower the each other, they just offer different gameplay types. If you like the GAMEPLAY, then after that you can grind your way (which will take long and is not that fun) or buy the champions pack to unlock all current and upcoming characters which I think is the best option considering it will cost less time and less money (if you want to unlock them by buying platinum) To be comepletely honest, the free version only gives you two champions to give you a "taste" of what the game is like.
